What did the US say on the allegations of role in snatching power from Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh?
Tuesday, August 13, 2024
The US has completely rejected the allegations of its role behind snatching power from Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh. The US has called it only and only a rumor.
White House Press Secretary Karin Jean-Pierre said, "We have absolutely no involvement in this. Any such report is false, which says that the US government has a hand in the recent events (change of power in Bangladesh). Everything is a rumor.''
Karin Jean-Pierre said, "This option has been chosen by the citizens of Bangladesh themselves. We believe that the people of Bangladesh should determine the future of the government there. As I said and will continue to say that none of the allegations are true.''
Students in Bangladesh were protesting against reservation for several months. Which increased so much that on 5 August 2024, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had to resign. Sheikh Hasina had to flee the country.
After this, the army announced the formation of an interim government.
Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus has been chosen as the chief advisor of the interim government.
