An interim government has been formed in Bangladesh after former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country.
Nobel Prize-winning economist Muhammad Yunus has been made the chief advisor of the interim government.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has welcomed Muhammad Yunus regarding the interim government of Bangladesh.
Antony Blinken has written on social media that I welcome the swearing-in of Muhammad Yunus to lead the interim government of Bangladesh.
Antony Blinken said, "The US supports their appeal for peace."
Blinken said, "The US is committed to working with Bangladesh for a democratic and prosperous future for the people of Bangladesh."
The decision to nominate Professor Yunus as the chief advisor of the interim government was taken after a meeting between Bangladesh President Mohammad Shahabuddin, military leaders and student leaders.
