An important meeting between US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping took place on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the historic Filoli Estate in San Francisco, California.

This conversation between the heads of the two countries on the occasion of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit is being considered important because through it the tension that has been going on for the last several months can be reduced.

After this summit, US President Biden said many things in a press conference that lasted for about 20 minutes.

US President Biden said that military communications between America and China will be restored. He also said he and Xi Jinping would maintain more direct lines of communication.

Also, US President Biden said that both countries have resumed efforts to deal with the flow of fentanyl products into America.

In this meeting, the ongoing war in Ukraine and West Asia was also discussed. Biden has answered the questions raised on these issues.

By the way, Joe Biden started this conference of the two countries by saying that the 'competition' between the two countries 'should not turn into conflict'.

US President Biden said, "I value this conversation because I think it is most important that you and I understand each other well without misunderstanding."

Xi Jinping said that turning our backs on each other is not an option.

Xi Jinping said, "The world is big enough for the success of both countries, and the success of one country is an opportunity for the other. Confrontation has many unbearable consequences for both countries."

Why did relations between America and China deteriorate?

Relations between these two countries deteriorated further in February 2023 when a suspicious Chinese balloon was shot down in America. America claimed that it was a spy balloon.

The visit of the then Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, to Taiwan in August 2022 also had a negative impact on the relations between the two countries.

Angered by that visit, China had stopped military communication with America.

There are deep differences between the two countries on many issues like military activity in the South China Sea, Israel-Hamas war, Taiwan, Ukraine war and China's alleged interference in the US elections.

US President Biden again called Chinese President Jinping a dictator

Wednesday, 15 November 2023
In response to a journalist's question at a press conference held after meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping in California at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, Biden has once again reiterated that Xi Jinping is a dictator.

Biden said, "He is a dictator in the sense that he takes over a country that is a communist country, based on a form of government that is completely different from ours."

Earlier in June 2023, Biden had created an uproar by calling Xi Jinping a dictator.

After his statement, China had termed that comment as 'very absurd and irresponsible'.
