US Election: Does President Donald Trump agree to leave the White House?

US President Donald Trump has said that he will leave the White House if the Electoral College, which officially confirms Biden to become the next President of the United States.

President Trump refused to accept the defeat in the November 3, 2020 vote, and told reporters on 26 November 2020 that it would be 'difficult' to accept.

He once again reiterated the baseless claims of rigging in the voting. Under the methodology adopted to elect the US president, Biden has so far received 306 votes while Trump has received a meager 232 votes. 270 votes are required to win. Biden is ahead by 6 million votes in terms of total votes.

The Electoral College will meet next month to make a final decision on votes. On 14 December 2020, American Electoral College will confirm Biden's victory.

Joe Biden will take the oath of office on 20 January 2021 after his confirmation.

President Trump and his supporters have also filed several lawsuits over the elections, but most of them have been dismissed.

Earlier this week, Trump, after several weeks of uncertainty, agreed to formally allow the US elected President Joe Biden's team to begin the process of transfer of power. This decision means that Biden, who is going to be sworn in on 20 January 2021, will now be able to seek information from security officials at the top level and will also have access to key government officials and multi-million dollar funds.

What did Trump say?

On 26 November 2020, when Trump was asked if he lost in the Electoral College vote of 14 December 2020, would he agree to leave the White House? To this Trump replied, "Surely I will, certainly I will and you know that."

However, he also said that "if they do (which is Biden's election), they will make a mistake."

Simultaneously, Trump said, "It would be very difficult to accept this thing." He reiterated claims of being "rigged" during the election without providing any evidence again.

Voters do not directly elect the next president under America's electoral system. Instead they vote for 538 candidates. The number of these candidates varies depending on the population of US states. These electorals almost always vote for the candidate who has won most of the votes of their states. It is possible, however, to ignore the election of some voters. But thus far the results have not changed.
