In India, the Supreme Court has ordered those two senior police officers of Gujarat to leave immediately, who were re-employed after retirement. These two officers have been accused of being involved in a fake encounter.

The accused officers include NK Amin and TA Barot. The two officers told the court on Thursday (17th August) that they will leave their respective posts from today.

Amin retired from the rank of Superintendent of Police in August last year. After that, he was appointed by the Gujarat Government for a year on the basis of contractual basis as the Superintendent of Police of Mahisagar district.

Amin Sohrabuddin and Ishrat Jahan have fought the trial in court in the fake encounter case in Sohrabuddin and Ishrat.

Second officer TA Barot made Superintendent of Police (DSP) under Western Railway in Vadodara in October after a month after retiring last year. Barot was also appointed for a year on contractual basis.

Barot has also been accused in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter and Sadiq Jamal encounter case.

While hearing a petition challenging their appointments, the Bench of Chief Justice Justice JS Khehar and Justice DY Chandchud pronounced the order for immediate release of both the police officers.

Former IPS officer Rahul Sharma had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the reappointment of these two tainted police officers.

Earlier, the Gujarat High Court had rejected his petition.

It was said in the petition that the CBI had filed a charge sheet against Amin in two fake encounter cases and he has been jailed in judicial custody for nearly eight years. Regardless of his retirement, the Gujarat government has made him the SP on contract again for a year.

According to the petition, Tarun Barot has also been accused in a lawsuit related to murder, abduction and is imprisoned in judicial custody for nearly three years.

The former IPS officer, through his lawyer Varinder Kumar Sharma, requested the Supreme Court to seal the proposal of Gujarat's top cop, PP Pandey, in which the DGP and IG Police were recommended to step down.
