India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin held extensive talks on Thursday (June 1) on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest and strengthening energy and trade relations.

At the beginning of his meeting, Modi told Putin that he was happy to be visiting Putin's hometown as Prime Minister. For the first time in Russia, India-Russia summit is taking place outside of Moscow in St. Petersburg.

Modi said, "In general, international relations are down below, but history has witnessed no fluctuations in Indo-Russian relations."

Modi thanked the President of Russia for playing an important role in getting membership of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to India.

Putin said that India will become a full-fledged member of the SCO in a week.

In the conversation with Putin, Modi mentioned his visit to the memorial of the martyrs of World War II in the morning. He told Putin, "You are a leader whose family sacrificed. Your brother had martyrdom."

Putin's brothers died in the Leningrad attack in World War II 70 years ago. He thanked Modi for going to war memorial and said that there is a special significance for such places in the hearts of the Russian people.

Both sides can sign 12 agreements in other areas including science and technology, railways, cultural exchanges, and among other private sectors. They will also issue a Vision Document. They can also contract for the construction of the last two units of India's largest nuclear power plant in Kudankulam.

Explain that for the first time an Indian Prime Minister is joining the Economic and Business Summit. The trade between the two countries is $ 7.8 billion dollars, which has come down compared to 2014. Then it was 10 billion dollars. Both countries are working with the goal of bringing the business to 30 billion dollars in the next five years.
