Major Litul Gogoi, detained by police after being seen in a hotel in Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir with a minor Kashmiri girl in May 2018, has been found guilty of having to befriend a local resident in the Court of Inquiry and staying away from his work place in a campaign area.

The news agency Bhasha told the sources of Indian Army that the order to initiate disciplinary action against Gogoi has been issued. Sources said that the court held them responsible for keeping a meeting with a minor Kashmiri girl and staying away from their work place in a campaign area, unlike instructions.

The police had detained Gogoi into custody after a dispute on May 23, 2018. He was trying to enter a Srinagar hotel with a minor Kashmiri girl. A few days later, the Indian Army ordered the Court of Inquiry of this incident. India's army chief General Bipin Rawat had said in Pahalgam that if Gogoi is found guilty in any crime, then strict punishment will be given.
