Forces allied to the UN-recognised government in Libya are now in full control of Gharyan - just south of the capital, Tripoli.
They captured the city from rival troops allied to the warlord Khalifa Haftar on Wednesday.
Haftar's forces have been using Gharyan as a staging post - in their campaign to seize Tripoli.
Al Jazeera's Sara Khairat reports.
