Supporters and opponents of removing Article 370 came face-to-face on the occasion of Independence Day on Thursday in front of the Indian High Commission in London.

The 61-year-old was in London to attend the Indian Independence Day celebrations outside the building of the Bharat Sachania High Commission. He said that there were more protesters present there than supporters.

He added, "The entire scene was being watched by the Indian High Commissioner Ruchi Ghanshyam High Commission. As the protesters surrounded the supporters and started throwing tomatoes, water bottles, eggs, the Indian High Commissioner got worried and because of this, he left London. Call the police force and ask them to send security forces.

He rescued the supporters with the help of the police and took them inside the Indian High Commission.

Bharat Sachania says that all the supporters stayed there for one and a half hours, one supporter said that eggs and tomatoes were thrown at his eyes. Gradually people started leaving from outside the Indian High Commission and many metro trains were filled with protesters.

Sachania said that he has heard that two people have been arrested but he did not see anyone getting hurt or injured. He has thanked the Indian High Commission for the help.

Sudha's 40-year-old husband and 8-year-old daughter were outside the Indian High Commission at the time. Sudha told the BBC that initially there were less protesters due to which a small number of security personnel were there but gradually a large number of protesters reached there.

She said that the protesters surrounded the Indian High Commission and threw eggs, tomatoes, bottles at men, women, children and the elderly.

Sudha said that the security measures were lacking, the police force should have prepared well and a large number of police personnel should have been sent there.

Owais Rajput, a member of the Conservative Party from Bradford, is a Kashmiri and came here from Bradford to participate in the demonstration. He said that thousands of protesters had gathered outside the Indian High Commission.

He said he saw people shouting slogans and waving banners, including Kashmiri, Pakistani and Khalistan supporters, but there were no Indian supporters.

He said that 90 per cent of the people gathered there were British citizens of Kashmiri origin, and 10 train coaches were filled with people coming from Bradford to participate in the demonstration.

Rajput said that he did not see any violence there or the protesters throwing eggs or bottles at people. Someone told them that eggs were thrown at people, but they did not see any bad behavior.

He said that people were shouting anti-Modi slogans and the posters were hitting the shoes but at the same time a large number of police were stationed there and the police was monitoring the helicopter. They feel that about 20 thousand people participated in this protest, including old and disabled people.

According to Rajput, it was a peaceful demonstration with only anti-slogans, with many carrying flags of the United Nations Peace Mission which talks about peace. He also criticized the Scotland Yard Police for blocking the roads leading to congestion problems.

Rajput said that the London administration could have controlled the demonstration more thoroughly as the administration had not anticipated that such a large number of protesters would participate in it.

We are still awaiting the statement of Scotland Yard and the High Commission of India on this incident.
