At least 148 people have died as Japan struggles with the aftermath of its worst flooding in decades. Rains have subsided and weather warnings have now been lifted.
Japanese cities have well-rehearsed plans for dealing with severe storms, but local communities are asking if more should be done, especially given the apparent rise in extreme weather events.
