India's Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed concern on behalf of India over the US decision to give an economic package for F-16 fighter aircraft to Pakistan.
Rajnath Singh wrote in a tweet after a telephonic conversation with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, "I expressed India's concern over the recent US decision to provide a package for Pakistan's F-16 fleet. Further to the India-US partnership. Defense Secretary looks forward to continuing talks with Austin to strengthen it."
Earlier, on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, US State Department spokesman Ned Price defended the Biden government's decision, saying that Pakistan is an important US partner in the war on terrorism.
Ned Price said, "This assistance will help Pakistan to repair its F-16 fleet, so that it will be able to deal with the threat of terrorism."
On September 8, 2022, the Biden administration approved $450 million in aid to Pakistan for F-16 aircraft. This is the first major security aid given by Washington to Islamabad in the last four years.
