The Government of India decided to curb 'water of our share' towards Pakistan and turn stream of Eastern rivers into J & K and Punjab. India's Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari gave this information. This decision has come at a time when 40 CRPF personnel were killed in a terror attack in Pulwama a few days ago.
Gadkari tweeted, "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our government has decided to stop the 'water of our share' which goes towards Pakistan. We will change the path of the Eastern rivers and deliver them to Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab.'' An official of the Indian government told that the waters going to Pakistan from Ravi, Vyas and Sutlej rivers, to Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab Will be folded.
In another tweet, Gadkari said, "Construction of Shahpur-Kandi Dam on the river Ravi has begun. In addition, through the UJH project, the 'water of our share' will be used for use in Jammu and Kashmir and the remaining water will flow through the other Ravi Vyas link in the basin of other states. Besides this, he said that all these projects has been declared a National Project.
It is worth mentioning that on February 14, 40 soldiers were martyred in the fidayeen terror attack on a CRPF convoy in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. The responsibility of this attack was taken by Pakistani-based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammad, whose leader was Masood Azhar.
