Rohan Bopanna won his first Grand Slam title on Thursday (June 8th) with his Canadian partner Gabriela Dabrowski winning the French Open mixed doubles trophy.

He has become the fourth Indian to win the Grand Slam title.

Bopanna and Dabrowski's seventh seeded pair made a great comeback in the final. They saved the two match points to beat Anna Lena Gorenfield of Germany and Robert Farah of Colombia 2-6, 6-2, 12-10.

The pair of India and Canada were two behind one point, but Gorenfield and Farah missed the chance. Bopanna and Dabrowski took full advantage of this and then got two match points and the German player's double fault title was named after them. It was only the second time that Bopanna reached the Grand Slam final in his career. In 2010, he made a place in the final of the US Open in collaboration with Pakistan's Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, where they had to face defeat of Brian Brothers Bab and Mike.

Before Bopanna, only Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza won the Grand Slam title for India. Dabrowski lost her service on the crucial point. After running long rallies, Farah made a volley on top of Bopanna's head. Anna Lena Gorenfield, who celebrated her 22nd birthday on Sunday, easily saved the game to score 3-1.

In the first set, there was pressure on Bopanna and his forehand went out and in the fifth game there were two break points against him, but the Canadian player showed good play on the net and they saved them. Farah's service was good and when Dabrowski was doing service at 2-4, pressure on her could be seen to be obvious. Her backhand went out and broke her service at zero. Bopanna started the second set with double fault, but he managed to save his service. Meanwhile, he also debated the chair umpire for the line time. Anyhow, the desire to return was heavy on the seventh seeded pair and Dabrowski was unable to save her service at the start of the second set.

Bopanna and his Canadian partner, however, got relief when Gorenfield lost her serve at zero. After this, Farah could not save his service in the sixth game, so that Bopanna and Dabrowski were 4-2 ahead. After this, the Canadian player saved her service for the first time in the match, and after this they easily winning the second set by matching the game in the match.

In the match tiebreaker Bopanna and Dabrowski made a 3-0 lead, but after that they lost five points and were 3-5 down. After that the scores were tied at 5-5. Further fluctuation continued, and in the end, Bopanna and Dabrowski were successful in becoming champions.
