CM Kumaraswamy got confidence vote in Karnataka, Got 117 votes in support

Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has got confidence vote in the assembly. 117 votes in favor of the JDS-Congress government. 58-year-old Kumaraswamy took oath of office on Wednesday.

At the same time, opposition leader BS Yeddyurappa boycotted the House with BJP legislators.

Before the motion of confidence vote today Congress MLA Ramesh Kumar from Srinivaspur has been elected as the new Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. The BJP had filed a claim on the speaker post, but withdrew the candidate's name before voting. BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa said that he is withdrawing the nomination of the BJP candidate for the post of Speaker, because keeping in view the dignity of the Speaker's post, he wants that the election is unanimous.

Assembly Speaker R Ramesh Kumar said that Govind Karzole will be the deputy leader of the opposition.

BJP Legislative Party leader BS Yeddyurappa was elected leader of the opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.

After presenting the confidence motion, CM Kumaraswamy thanked Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, Mallikarjun Kharge. With this, he said that his father and former PM HD Devgowda had said that if he goes with BJP, the whole family would leave him.
