China termed road construction in Sikkim sector as valid and said that this construction is being done in the area of China which is neither India nor Bhutan and no other country has the right to interfere in it.

China has indicated that India is opposing Bhutan's efforts to construct road in Donglong of Sikkim region, which has no diplomatic relations with China.

China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Lyoo Kong told the media, ''Donglong comes in the Chinese area. It is undisputed. The Donglong area is part of China since ancient times, not Bhutan."

In response to a question, he said, "India wants to raise issues with this region. I say that this is not a part of Bhutan, nor is it a part of India. So we have a complete legal basis for this. The road construction project of China is valid and within this area it is auspicious activity. No country has the right to interfere in it.''

Targeting India, Lyoo said that Bhutan is a global recognized sovereign country.

He said, "Hopefully other countries will respect sovereignty of another country." The China-Bhutan border is not defined, nor should any third party interfere in this matter nor do any irresponsible acts or rhetoric."

China says that the Sikkim portion of the Indo-China border is prescribed so that India does not have the right to raise objection to road construction. He said that for this reason China had opened Nathula Pass in the Sikkim area for Indian devotees for Kailash Manasarovar Yatra.

Chinese thinkers believe that India has stopped the construction of road from Bhutan. Earlier, China justified the construction of the road in Sikkim and said that according to the China-UK Treaty that took place in 1890, the region inevitably comes in its borders.

In a statement released by Lyoo Kang, it was said that Sikkim's ancient name was 'Zee'. He said, "The area which the Indian Army has raised objection on. According to this treaty, undoubtedly is located towards the border of China. This statement from China came a day after the Chinese Army's allegation of banning the construction of road by the Indian Army. China considers Sikkim of India-China border as its 'sovereign region'. Lu said that both China and India had recognized the Sikkim block of Indo-China border.

He said, "Indian leaders, related documents in the Indian government, a meeting of the Special Representatives of the China-India Border Issue confirmed that both sides had signed the China-UK Treaty in 1890 and Sikkim's China-India borders were instructed to look at the consensus.

The spokesman said, "The compliance of these treaties and documents is international obligation and the Indian side can not escape it."

In a statement issued on Monday night by China's Foreign Ministry, "Indian border guards crossed the border of the Sikkim region of the Indo-China border and entered the Chinese territory and they have stopped the normal activities of the advanced forces of China in the Donglong region, after which China took defensive steps."

Earlier yesterday, Lyoo had said that China had filed a diplomatic protest against India, accusing Indian soldiers of entering Sikkim and calling for urgent withdrawal.

He also said that due to the deadlock, China has stopped Nathula Pass for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
