The NDA gets an absolute majority in the Bihar elections 2020. The RJD has emerged as the largest party in this election. The Mahagathbandhan stayed away from the majority even after a good start.

The results of the Bihar assembly elections have come and the NDA has got the mandate to form the government once again in this state with 243 assembly seats.

A majority of 122 seats is needed to form a government in Bihar and the NDA has crossed this crucial figure by winning 125 seats.

The Mahagathbandhan, which gave a thump to the NDA, was chased down by a majority figure. The Mahagathbandhan has got 110 seats.

JDU has got 43 seats.

On the other hand, MP Asaduddin Owaisi's party All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen has done well, winning five seats. Bahujan Samaj Party has also won one seat.

Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), which contested the JDU, single-handedly won only one seat in Bihar assembly elections.

One seat has come as an independent.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the party leading the Mahagathbandhan, has emerged as the single largest party with 75 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also increased its seats and is in second place with 74 seats.

In 2015, RJD won 80 seats and BJP won 53 seats.

The NDA has got a majority due to the superior performance of BJP and other allies but the performance of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's party Janata Dal United (JDU) in these elections was not very encouraging. JDU, which won 71 seats in 2015, has got 43 seats this time.

At the same time, the Congress, which won 27 seats in the 2015 election, got only 19 seats in this election.

Apart from JDU and BJP, NDA has Hindustani Awam Morcha (Hum) and Vikasshil Insan Party (VIP).

The RJD, Congress and three leftist parties in the Mahagathbandhan are the Communist Party of India (CPI), the Communist Party of India (Marxist) i.e. CPM and the Communist Party of India Marxist Leninist (Liberation).

The Lok Janshakti Party is a part of the NDA at the center but in Bihar this party contested alone.

The NDA introduced the current CM Nitish Kumar as the face of the Chief Minister, while 31-year-old Tejashwi Yadav was the Chief Ministerial candidate from the Mahagathbandhan.

The counting of Bihar assembly elections began at 8 am on November 10, 2020, which lasted till around 2 pm.

The Bihar Legislative Assembly Elections, held in three phases, is India's first election amid the Covid-19 epidemic. According to the Election Commission, it was due to Covid-19 that the counting of votes took more time. The counting of votes, which started at eight in the morning, lasted till two and a half.

According to the Election Commission, 57.05 per cent of the people voted this time, which is more than 2015. The turnout was 56.66 percent five years ago.

The RJD and the Congress have alleged a flaw in the counting of Bihar assembly elections and both these parties also went to the Election Commission. However, later during the press conference, Secretary General of the Election Commission Umesh Sinha said that the Election Commission does not work under any kind of pressure.
