The Bharatiya Janata Party has promised the voters of Meghalaya that if the party forms a government in the state then beef will not be banned.

Meghalaya BJP also termed Congress's claim that the Center has banned animals from cutting across the country.

The upcoming Assembly elections in Meghalaya will be held in the next year. Meghalaya BJP vice president JA Lyngdoh said, "The law made by the Center is not restricted to cutting cows at any level."

According to Lyngdoh, the Supreme Court has asked the Central Government to set guidelines for preventing smuggling of animals out of India.

He said that the notification issued by the Center for this purpose is to control the purchase and sale of animals.

According to J A Lyngdoh, the cutting of cows have not been banned completely.

According to the India Times dot com's Report, Lyngdoh said, "The law does not say so, if it says so, it will be declared illegal by the High Court or the Supreme Court."

Explain that the Central Government has banned the purchase of cow for cow-meat from the market in order to prohibit cow's slaughter. Within this new rule, there are other animals of the cattle, besides the cow.

Lyngdoh had opposed this rule of the Modi Government of the Central in May this year and said that "We can not accept new orders issued regarding the purchase and distribution of animals and their slaughter." We can not go against our eating habits."

According to Lyngdoh, this law of the Center has been misinterpreted. They said that eating habits of the tribes of the state will not be attacked in any condition.

Let tell that the population of Meghalaya is around 32 lakh. The majority of the population here is Christian. The two main tribes of the state are the Khasi and Garo, who eat beef. These two tribes are three-fourths of the state's population.

It was this year that a local BJP leader had said that if the BJP comes to power then the party will supply cheap beef to the people. But after the center brought the new law this BJP leader had resigned from the party.
