Wednesday, 14 August 2024
President of India Draupadi Murmu has addressed the nation on the eve of Independence Day.
President Draupadi Murmu has specifically mentioned the progress of India's economy in her address.
President Draupadi Murmu said, "By achieving an average annual growth rate of 8 percent between the year 2021 and the year 2024, India is among the fastest growing large economies. This has not only brought more money in the hands of the countrymen, but the number of people living below the poverty line has also decreased substantially.''
"All efforts are being made to help those who are still suffering from poverty as well as to bring them out of poverty. For example, under the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, launched in the early stages of COVID-19, free ration is being provided to about 80 crore people.''
President Draupadi Murmu said, "It is a matter of pride for all of us that India has become the fifth largest economy of the world, and we are set to soon be among the top three economies of the world. This success has been possible only due to the tireless hard work of farmers and workers, far-sightedness of policy-makers and entrepreneurs and the visionary leadership of the country.''
