Following BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand, the matter of infants death has come to light after the lack of oxygen in Nashik Civil Hospital in Maharashtra. Maharashtra is also a BJP ruled state.
In the special infant care section of the hospital, last month (in August) 55 infants died. Here the administration has denied the death of infants due to medical negligence.
Nashik Civil Surgeon Suresh Jagdale told PTI that in 187 infants died in special infant care section since April, but 55 infants died in August.
Jagdale said, "Most of these deaths were caused by bringing the infants from the private hospitals to the last position and the scope for survival was very low. Due to early birth and respiratory system weakness also caused death."
Civil surgeon said that in any case there was no medical negligence.
They said, "There are 18 incubators in the hospital and we need to keep three children in the same incubator at some point in the absence of space."
Health Minister Deepak Sawant said, "It is a fact that the infants were brought to the government hospital in the last state." He said that private and government hospitals will soon follow a protocol.
In the past, hundreds of children were killed last month at Baba Raghav Das Medical College and Hospital in Gorakhpur, under BJP ruled Uttar Pradesh. Of these 30 children died due to lack of oxygen in just 48 hours.
In the last one year, 152 children died in January in Baba Raghav Das Medical College and Hospital, whereas 122 died in February, 159 in March, 123 in April, 139 in May, 137 in June, 128 in July and 325 died in August. After this, many infants died in Jharkhand in BJP-ruled Jharkhand due to oxygen deficiency. Now this negligence has been repeated in BJP-ruled state Maharashtra.
